Does the United Kingdom have corporate ties that effect its politics?

I am interested in understanding the effects of corporations and politics. There is numerous literature in regards to America and its corporate politics... but am having difficult time in finding the same information for the UK. Moreover, if there aren't corporate ties, how have they stabilized their economy so efficiently. Is it merely a result of colonization?
