Free/low price air ticket..., how?

i live and in london, uk and want to go to america to see some friends. how can i get a free ticket or what or organization can i join to a get a free one. paying �500 ($750) is way too much - please nothing about air miles as i have no credit card. if you have no ideas maybe you could tell me how to get a subsidized rate ticket.
